The Elmont Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic Librarian for our Young Adult Department
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Performing reference desk duties and providing library services.
- Planning and presenting programs, both in-person and virtual, such as book discussions, and educational/entertaining programs.
- Assisting with technology including computers, mobile devices, tablets and apps.
- Participating in ordering and weeding of the collection, as well as compiling themed bibliographies using print and online resources.
- Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- NYS Public Librarian’s Certificate
- Excellent customer service and technology skills
- Desire to work collaboratively as part of a great team!
Hours and Salary:
Monday and Wednesday evenings and 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday per month
$26.39 per hour

- Responsible for shelving and organizing books and other library materials
- Ability to alphabetize and put things in numerical order
- Ability to lift, bend, and reach
- $16.23 per hour
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Basic computer skills required
- The following hours are required:
- Mondays, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
- Wednesdays, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
- Every other Saturday and every other Sunday.

Hours:

- Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 1pm to 6pm
- Every other Saturday from 9am to 5pm
Salary
- $17 per hour
This is a non-competitive position. You do not have to come off the civil service list.
Duties:
- Clean restrooms, empty trash, vacuum carpets, mop floors, dust shelves, wipe tables, and other cleaning duties as needed.
- Set up and break down meeting rooms (chairs, tables, etc.) for programs.
- Secure building at closing making sure that all doors and windows are locked and alarm system is set. May also be required to open the building.
- Lifting and carrying supplies.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED
- Must have previous cleaning experience in a commercial setting.
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning techniques and safety protocols a plus.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to handle emergency situations.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items.
- Responsible, dependable and have scheduling flexibility.
Hours:
Two to three evenings per week from 4pm to 11pm. Weekends as needed.
Salary
- $17.50 per hour
